The OGA Associate Level Training course is a comprehensive, 70-hour Orton-Gillingham course approved by the Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA), designed to give you deep, hands-on training in structured literacy instruction.

Here’s what’s included:

  • 10 hours of asynchronous online coursework

  • 60 hours of in-person, expert-led instruction

  • Led by credentialed OGA Fellows and Fellows-in-Training

  • Includes custom-designed materials, including visual and blending drill decks, informational assessment tool, concept cards, and more

Once you complete the training, you’re eligible to begin your practicum, required for full Orton-Gillingham certification at the Associate level.

Our OGA Associate Level Training is led by Kristi Perry, M.A., FIT/OGA, and Beth Reusser, CALT, FIT/OGA—experienced structured literacy specialists who make the science of reading approachable and applicable.

How OGA Associate Level Training Works

  • Step 1: Book a Training Consultation

    Let’s talk goals, logistics, and location. We customize every training experience.

  • Step 2: Complete the 70-Hour OGA Course

    10 hours online. 60 hours in-person. Three instructors.

  • Step 3: Get Ready for the Practicum

    Once you’ve completed your coursework, you’re eligible to start the supervised practicum.

  • Step 4: Certification & Beyond

    We offer extensive application support, additional coaching (Ask A FIT Office Hours), and skill training to keep your skills sharp and your instruction strong.

  • Because this is the gold standard in structured literacy instruction. It’s comprehensive, backed by science, and gives you a roadmap that actually works in the classroom.

  • Our training meets OGA standards, includes real-time instruction from three experienced trainers, and prepares you for Associate-level Orton Gillingham certification. This is not a one-size-fits-all PD session.

  • No, you will not have certification after the 70 hour training course, however you will be eligible for the practicum which leads you toward your goal of certification.

  • We work with your team to select a training location that works for you. We offer flexible options for schools, districts, and individuals.
