Scholarship & Funding
Professional Training, Philanthropic Pricing
At Sensible Learning, we believe that cost should never be a barrier to high-quality, evidence-based literacy instruction. Check out these scholarship opportunities and reach out to us if we can help.
Boon Philanthropy
Because our training is conducted by Fellows-in-Training of the Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA), under the supervision of Cyndi Schultz, an Accredited Training Fellow, our trainees are eligible to apply for national tuition scholarships. Boon Philanthropy is a non-profit dedicated to supporting the Science of Reading. They offer scholarships specifically for teachers pursuing OGA certification.
How to Apply for Tuition Assistance:
Visit Boon: Complete the Boon Preliminary Interest Form.
Select Your Partner: When prompted for your "Preferred Trainer," select Orton-Gillingham Academy.
Specify Your Instructor: In the notes/comments, mention you are training with Cyndi Schultz, Accredited Training Fellow via Sensible Learning.
Impact: Focus your 250-word statement on how this structured literacy training will transform your classroom and help your most struggling readers. Follow this link for more tips on completing your application.
Special Funding for Ohio Educators
Ohio is leading the way in the Science of Reading. If you are an Ohio-based educator, you may qualify for the following state-specific funds:
The Brian Riddlebarger Memorial Scholarship
Established by the Riddlebarger family in memory of their son, Brian, this scholarship is administered by COBIDA (Central Ohio Branch of the IDA). It is dedicated to funding teacher training in Structured Literacy.
Because Sensible Learning is an OGA-sanctioned training provider, our trainees are eligible to apply for this fund to help cover the costs of Associate-level coursework and supervised observations. This scholarship is a tribute to the power of the right intervention at the right time.
Eligibility: Central Ohio educators committed to OG certification.
How to Apply: Visit the COBIDA Educator Page and look for the Brian Riddlebarger Memorial Scholarship application.
Check Back: Application windows may vary; we recommend checking the COBIDA site in January.
The Pam Kanfer Scholarship (NOBIDA):
This scholarship covers nearly the entire cost of our Associate-level certification. Deadlines occur in May and September. Learn more here.
Ohio TechCred:
Own a private tutoring center? The state of Ohio may reimburse you up to $2,000 for each staff member you send to our training. Check eligibility here.
District CLSD Grants:
Many Ohio districts have received Read Ohio funding. Check with your "Curriculum Director" to see if grant funds are available to cover your tuition with Sensible Learning.
