How to Rule the Court
The rules are simple, but the pressure is on!
The Draw: Players take turns drawing a card featuring a word that is missing its ending.
The Roll: Roll the specialized ge/dge die to see if you can "judge" the correct spelling.
The Verdict: If the die correctly completes the word according to spelling rules, you keep the card!. If not, the card is dismissed to the discard pile.
The Win: The player who has collected the most evidence (cards) by the end of the game wins the case!.
💡 Pro Tip: Master the "Short Vowel" Rule
This game is the perfect tool for practicing the specific rule that <-dge> follows a short vowel, while <-ge> follows a long vowel or consonant. For extra reinforcement, use the deck as a Sorting Activity before playing! Have students group the cards by their vowel sounds to predict which ending they’ll need before they even roll the die.
